Mistakes

Mistakes

to err is human

We all make mistakes.

It’s what we do with them, how we recover from them and what we learn from them – that’s what matters.

Learning from mistakes is what matters the most in the end.

However, realizing and acknowledging to ourselves that we made a mistake in the first place, whether we admit to anyone else or not, is the very first – and most important step of all – toward learning.

What do we do when we make a mistake?

Do we own up to our mistake? Do we cover up our mistake? It probably depends on a persons own situation, the severity of the mistake etc. Based on whatever our own situation is, we will decide whether to own up to anyone else to the mistake or not.

Whatever the case is, everyone needs to realize the mistake and acknowledge the mistake to oneself. That is the first step.

Then comes the second step. the harder one. How to deal with the mistake. It is a personal decision. We must decide the course of recovery ourselves. But we must face the mistake and the consequences that come with it. Take responsibility. Understand the reasons that led to the mistakes, what could have been done differently.

The most important step is the final one. Learning from the mistakes. The long and painstaking analysis of the mistake will help us understand how we can achieve a different outcome. If we are faced with similar circumstances what can we do differently so that we may avoid repeating the same mistakes and do better next time.

We can take our learnings to create opportunities for improvement.

We all make mistakes… it’s what we do with them and how learn from them, how we mold our personalities and become better versions of ourselves that differentiates us from one another.

So as humans, of course we’ll make mistakes. But we’ll keep on learning from them and take them as opportunities to keep on becoming better versions of ourselves.
